Inject some five star glamour into your shower room or en suite by sticking to a classic colour scheme and fitting it out using accessories that ooze with sophistication. Inspired by the decadence of Art Deco era, this look is elegant without being fussy. With this in mind, opt for sleek yet classic bathroom fittings with subtle detailing. As the scheme´s colour palette is simple, the texture and appearance of the tiles is an important factor, so go for stone-effect designs that mimic expensive limestone or marble- you will find great lookalikes at most DIY stores. Choose different sized tiles in the same finish for the walls and floor, and lay in contrasting formations for visual interest. Finally, finish off your room with some plush towels and stylish accessories, such as some lovely scented candles, in suitable colours to tie the whole scheme together beautifully. Brands to keep an eye out for include yankee candles and true grace candles. Make the shower the star. This look is all about luxury, so fit the biggest shower enclosure you can and opt for sliding doors that do not encroach on the rest of the room. Getting the details right is the key, so be sure to choose chrome finishes for the taps and towel rail, as well as the right style of wall lights to complement the Art Deco influence. Brass does not look right when you are talking about Art Deco so it is best to steer clear of brass or bronze fittings. Choose the right finishing touches. For a sophisticated look, you need to get the accessories right. If you have been playing it safe with white or cream towels, try combining them with black ones to help create a bold, confident scheme. Also, stack up modern storage boxes, and display black and white framed prints or candles to continue the monochromatic theme. Why not pick a simple yet glamorous mirror with bevelled edges, which is so much inm keeping with the Art Deco look? Splash out on some shower goodies. Why not treat yourself to some luxury toiletries? Pick some attractive bottles and display them in a prominent place. When they are finished, simply decant less-expensive lotions into the empty bottles and put them back on the shelf. Forget those stick-on shower baskets- go for simple glass corner shelves to provide a neat, unobtrusive finish. Smarten up a blind. A plain cream roller blind can be taken for drab to fab in an instant with the addition of a beaded trim. Go for a 1920´s feel by sewing a wide band of black fabric to the bottom of the blind and adding a matching strip of pretty beads. Finish off the look with a glamorous blind pull in glass or chrome.
