How Do They Make Auto Glass Bulletproof?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:17 pm

As you may know bulletproof glass is glass that is capable of stopping all sorts of bullets fired at it. This type of glass is made by using a strong but transparent material such as polycarbonate thermoplastic. Sometimes its constructed by using layers of laminated glass.

The polycarbonate layer is often put between layers of regular glass. A bullet will probably pierce the exterior glass layer, but will be stopped by the really strong polycarbonate layer before it can pierce the inner layer of glass. Theres also whats called bullet resistant glass thats constructed of laminated glass layers. This is built from sheets of glass glued together using some sort of liquid rubber.

One-way Bullet Proof Glass

As technology advances in the field of bullet resistant glass we now have a new type of bullet proof glass called one-way bulletproof glass. These types of glasses are commonly used by armored cars.

The beauty of this glass is that it will resist incoming fire arms striking the outside of the glass, while allowing those on the other side of the glass, such as guards, fire from inside the armored car, through the glass at the exterior threat outside.

Usually One-way bulletproof glass is made up of two layers. A brittle layer on the outside and a flexible layer on the inside. If a bullet is fired from the outside it will hit the brittle layer first and will probably shatter an area of it. This shattering of the glass absorbs some of the bullet’s energy, and spreads it out on a larger area. When the slowed down bullet hits the flexible layer, it will be stopped.

However, when someone fires a bullet from the inside it hits the flexible layer first. The bullet will then go through the flexible layer because its energy is focused on a smaller area. The brittle layer will then shatter outward because the inner layer flexes and doesnt stop the bullet’s progress.

Low Glycemic Diets

Introduction: low glycemic diets are good for everyone but the people who need these diets most are Diabetics and those trying to lose weight. Foods are measured by GI glycemic indexing.

What is glycemic indexing (GI)? The glycemic index ranks from 1 to 100.This is the method by which foods are measured and shows the amount a food will raise blood sugar and insulin levels. The rate at which your blood sugar rises is very important in managing diabetes and weight maintenance. High glycemic foods are those that are quickly digested and turned into sugar. They will cause a considerable rise in high blood sugar. Foods ranking 70 or greater on the GI scale are considered high glycemic foods. Examples of these foods are:

Foods high in sugar or glucose

* Baked or mashed potatoes
* White Rice
* White (not whole grain) bread
* Cookies, cakes, muffins, doughnuts-made with refined white flour
* Junk foods

Low glycemic foods include some fruits and vegetables they are 55 or less on the GI scale. Examples of these are:

* Most fruits (apples, pears, oranges, berries, etc.)
* High fiber grains (bran, whole grain wheats)
* Pastas
* Whole milk
* Low-fat yogurt
* Lentils
* Whole grain cereals

Why use a low Glycemic Diets: High glycemic foods can cause weight gain and are dangerous for those suffering from Diabetes. High glycemic foods increase your appetite, and cause your body to increase triglycerides. They can also lead to weight gain. Cutting carbohydrates is not enough. You need to be aware of how all the food you eat measures up to the GI index.

Protein foods such as cheese, vegetables, eggs and fresh meat are not included in the GI index because they do not include large amounts of carbohydrates. Therefore these foods can be eaten when you are on a low glycemic diet.

Diabetes is a life threatening disease when not taken care of and it is very important to be aware of the glycemic index of the foods you eat. One of the first methods of treatment is to put these patients on a low glycemic diet. This will help them to lower their blood sugar levels and maintain a normal blood sugar level.

Obesity: A low glycemic diet will also help you lose weight. Eating more protein foods and low glycemic foods will help you drop those pounds and when you maintain a low glycemic diet will help you sustain your weight.

Eating in a healthier manner is just a matter of understanding the different foods and paying attention to what you eat. Educate yourself a little on which foods are high in protein and low in glycemic levels and you will be able to improve your health and have more energy to do the things that are really important to you.

Lenders And Investors — 5 Ways Of Getting Personal

Everybody says it. Get a personal introduction and youll fare much better.

So, what? I walk up to this guy when hes at lunch and introduce myself, noting that Id like $850,000 for my new business? No, I dont think so.

There are, actually, much better ways of getting that personal introduction, such as:

1.Via Rejections

Yes, rejections do have a rosy side. Every time a lender or investor rejects your business plan, call and ask who they recommend as a good prospect.

Then, contact the person/company that is recommended, noting, Jan Snicker at Big Oldie Bank suggested I contact you.

Voila! Theres your personal introduction.

2.Via Research

Use your research to identify something common between you and the lender/investor. Perhaps your neighbor went to the same college he did. Perhaps your kids are both into ice hockey.

Use that commonality to get your personal approach.

For example, you discover that he is a Scout leader, just as you were. So start out, Being a Scout leader taught me the importance of teaching leadership skills to my team.

Before you know it, you and he are good buddies.

3.Via a Common Contact

Somewhere within seven degrees of separation there are people common to both of you, either in your professional lives, or your personal circles.

This may take some legwork. You need to hook up with the person who knows the person who knows him. But its well worth it. The gold mine of information you discover along the way, as well as that ever valuable personal introduction, make every moment worth while.

Is this imposing on people? Not at all. People like to be asked. They like feeling important. So give them both.

Dont be surprised if a journey like this turns up other investors/lenders that you hadnt even thought of.

4.Via a Chance Encounter

You suspect that Mr. Gingle will be at the investor forum next week? Well, what the dickens is stopping you? Line up that intro now.

If you can manage to be at his table at lunch, youve hit a home run. But any chance encounter will do just fine. All you need is a few minutes to give your investor introduction pitch.

Your goal is to have him say that its OK for you to send a business plan to his attention. That, realistically, is all the time he will have at a brief encounter like this.

5.Via the Back Door

Your lender/investor has clients. Some have been very successful and earned him a lot of money.

If you cannot get to your person, try getting to that particular client. Industry conferences are always a good bet. Local business conferences often work well too.

I know one industrious entrepreneur who moved to Menlo Park, California, and hung out in the local pubs known to be frequented by venture capitalists. While that was a bit radical, the approach is right on target.

I cannot over-emphasize the importance of conducting research on your potential investment partner. It doesnt matter whether its the bank around the corner or the venture capital firm on the other side of the country. Find out everything you can names, biographies, hobbies, speeches, education, career path.

Then, when you do get that personal introduction (and its invariably at a time when you least expect it!), you will have the info glue to make the introduction stick.

Good luck on your adventure!

Lil Wayne & His Music

Weezy F. Baby, otherwise known as Lil Wayne, was born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. in New Orleans, LA, on the 27th of September in 1982. He is also known by the monikers Birdman Junior, Raw Tune, Weezy or simply Dwayne Carter. He has been a resident of New Orleans until August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf states and caused widespread damage. He has since relocated to Miami, FL. Lil Wayne claims to be “the best rapper alive since the best rapper retired.”

Lil Wayne’s musical career began at the tender age of 11, after meeting Cash Money Records’ owner and CEO Ronald “Slim” Brian. He cites Pimp Daddy and U.N.L.V (recording artists from Cash Money Records as well) as some of his early influences. After his encounter with Slim, Lil Wayne out of high school to fully pursue his dreams of becoming a rap artist. Another Cash Money executive, Baby Williams, signed him to Cash Money, where he has been ever since. Baby not only served as Lil Wayne’s musical mentor, but also as a father figure.

Weezy grew up with a stepfather who, like many young men from the inner city, owned a handgun which was unregistered. Lil Wayne accidentally shot himself whilst playing with it as a young child, and after waking up in hospital a few days later, pointed the authorities to the gun’s owner. His stepfather was ultimately arrested for owning the unregistered weapon and incarcerated. Unfortunately, after his release from the penitentiary, he was abducted and killed. In memory of his stepfather, Wayne got “In Memory Of Rabbit: It’s Up To Me” tattooed on his arm.

At age 14, in 1997, Lil Wayne formed the Hot Boyz along with fellow members Juvenile, Turk and B.G. They released the hugely successful album entitled “Get It How You Live”. The Hot Boyz instantly became famous in the south and midwest.

When he was 16, Weezy released “The Block Iz Hot” thereby launching his solo career. Four albums have followed ever since; Lights Out, 500 Degreez, That Carter, and That Carter II.

His latest offering was released on the 6th of December 2005 and it has already sold more than a million copies. With his rising popularity came a huge demand for his music in digital format. Nowadays people prefer using mp3 players as opposed to compact discs. They are smaller, easier to carry, and can store over a thousand songs in some cases.

Lil Wayne mp3′s are abundant on the Internet. If you know where to search, you can obtain free Lil Wayne Mp3 downloads. We all like the sound for free, don’t we ?

What You Need To Know If You Want To Be A Certified Diver

If you have never dived before and arent sure that you want to spend the money on the certification process, you can still go diving. There are popular diving locations in the Caribbean or the Florida Keys where the resort may offer dives. These are typically one day or weekend crash courses, and they dont allow you the freedom you have with becoming certified, but they will give you a chance to see what its like.

Getting certified in Scuba Diving can be a lengthy process. Not everyone is cut out to scuba dive. If you are thinking of being certified, there are a few things you should do before you go any further.

One is to make sure you are a reasonable good swimmer. Part of the certification requires you to be able to swim 200 yards and be able to float or tread water for roughly 10 minutes. Scuba diving can be very tiring, so making sure you are in good shape is necessary.

Second, it is a good idea to get cleared from your doctor. Health issues can occur with scuba diving, and you want to make sure that you wont have any problems. You need to be able to breath through your mouth instead of your nose and be able to equalize your ears. You dont want to rupture an ear drum while scuba diving because you were unable to pop your ears. Heart conditions and obesity can also make you more susceptible to heath conditions that occur with diving.

You also need to consider your mental health, meaning if you can mentally handle scuba diving. You are underwater and cannot panic. If you are one to panic easily at the sight of something you arent familiar with, scuba diving might not be for you. There is an abundant amount of sea life, and you need to be able to deal with it whether its a shark or a fish.

After taking all of these things into consideration, and you are still ready to become certified there are quite a few places you can go to do so. There are about 1,900 professional scuba dive centers in just North America, so you should be able to find one relatively local. These centers should be listed in the yellow pages of the phonebook. You can also look online.

You should find one where you are able to take it and get information on the course. Courses can range in price from several hundred dollars to even several thousand dollars. You may also need to buy your own equipment, so talk to the instructor and know what you will need to have for the class. You may also want to ask about the size of the class, and the length. Some places offer the course in a weekend and others over a few week period. If this particular class doesnt sound right for you, keep looking around. Lots of places offer the class, so you should be able to find one that works for you and your schedule.

In order to become certified, there is a classroom portion, pool sessions, and open water dives. The classroom portion will require you to take a written test at the end that you need to pass. The pool sessions also require you to pass a swim test as talked about earlier. In the open water dives (http://www.starscuba.com/openwatercertification) you will need to show your skills such as setting up and check equipment, planning the dive, ascent and descent, clearing the mask, and more.

All must be done before you are certified and able to venture the waters alone. By alone of course I do mean using the buddy system because you never want to dive by yourself.

Groombridge Land – Coming out of Age

Groombridge Land has a rich past starting from the year 1000 AD which is reportedly the time when a military guard was posted to defend the river crossing between the ancient kingdoms of Kent and Sussex. Before the Norman conquest the area around Groombridge was a denn, a medieval pig pasture. The earliest known owner was William Russell, who was granted lordship of the Manor of Groombridge in the 1230s. William built a fortified Manor House, surrounded by the moat which still survives today. He and his wife Haweis were granted a charter by Henry III to found a chantry.

Since then Groombridge has seen Magna Carta, 100 years war of Black Death, Gambling Debts war and smugglers’ gangs. There was a time when Groombridge Land was visited by Sherlock Holmes and also saw World War I and World War II. Most importantly Groombridge is known for the Gardens and the Groombridge Place between the enchanted forests.

People in Groombridge, UK are now focussing on the overall development of its industrial and commercial interests as a priority. They now know the importance of maintaining the balance between perspectives of job creation, commercial development in tune with modern residential community development thus maintaining the famous Cromwell lifestyle.

Now Groombridge offer prime farmland and land plots for sale to buy for investors, residential, farming, industrial and commercial purposes. The land in UK has already watched appreciation of as much as 1000% during the past 25 years and this offer sounds perfect for coming years as well.

How Fatherhood Contributes To Fitness And Healthy Living

When speaking about fitness and healthy living, most men usually think of the stereotyped image of a guy eating a balanced diet, going to the gym regularly, and engaging into sports activities. All right, if you want to be different, you’ll probably choose yoga, ballroom dancing, carpentry, or even pottery as your means to exercise, relieve stress, and fight boredom. But you’ll probably do a lot of sneaking when you want to do some unique stuff. Yet the truth is that male health is not only limited to diet or doing exercises or sports. For, there are other aspects of a man’s life that directly or indirectly influence his health. No wonder, fitness and healthy living is a must for every man.

If you’re a father, you may be wondering how that role affects your over all fitness and healthy living. Of course, expecting and having your first-born child is a mixture of excitement, happiness, and worry. Yet as the number of your kids increase and you start to face the tough challenges of parenting, you’ll probably give a more serious thought on your role as a dad. You’ll have to quickly master multitasking as you change diapers, feed your kids, watch them as they run around the house, or reprimand them when they get excessively naughty. Is fatherhood doing good or bad things to men’s health?

Generally, fatherhood creates positive changes to the entire male health. This is true compared to men who aren’t married or who don’t have kids yet. Of course, this does not mean that single men aren’t as equally healthy as married men. However, being a father gives you a certain edge in terms of fitness and healthy living. In fact, fathers who spend quality time with their kids are more likely to experience greater happiness and fulfillment. The responsibility of being a father always changes the lifestyle of men. They no longer work nor live for their wife, but for their entire family. In this case, they may start to drop unhealthy practices such as smoking and drinking in order to set a good example for their kids. Moreover, their desire to watch and be with their children as they grow will inspire them to maintain their health and live longer. Hence, they’ll find more reasons to eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, drive carefully, and visit their physician regularly. Of course, the joy of men is even doubled or tripled when they start to have grandchildren. Things keep on getting better as their family grows. It goes without saying that fitness and healthy living is still maintained when a man becomes a father.

America: Still So Young No Americans Allowed

If sometimes, weighed down with the complexities of uneasy empire, we perchance wonder if America could be freedoms fading star, its somewhat reassuring to realize that the nation is so young it still does not recognize the existence of Americans. Even the Indians dont completely get the nod, because theyre still camped out on reservations.

We might see the persistent refusal to accept Im an American as a recognized nationality, at least on the home front, as a consonant reflection of our mixed and matched heritage. But it does present us with inconveniences.

Tell a fellow American who asks your nationality, Im an American, and what does he say? Oh, come on, tell me, really, what are you?

I just told you, you repeat, in your resourceful attempt to nationalize yourself, I was born and rear-beaten in America.

No, no, your interrogator presses on, I mean, where did your parents come from?

Well, you let out, my mother was born in West Virginia.

Then where did your father come from?

Now, youve been cornered, so you finally confess that he came from here, there, or wherever. Lets say Ireland. And what does your pouncing interrogator reply?

Oh, so youre Irish.

Actually, the only time you get to be an American is when youre likely to suffer the slings of outrageous interactions in distant lands.

Oh, so youre an American, you’re told, usually in a tone that intimates at least a slight reprimand, as soon as the securely French, Italian, or whatever person you chance to chat with determines youre from the USA.

And, no matter how much effort your make to elude detection by speaking in the tongue of your assailant, the nonchalant accusation pops to the fore as soon as your first Yankee twang intrudes.

Will Durant, the popular (dare we say American?) historian, estimated that it takes about eight-hundred years for a country to develop a civilization. I wonder how long it takes short of that to develop the nationality that might achieve it.

Trailer Vacations

Trailer traveling became popular in the 1920s, when Americans learned and enjoyed the freedom and flexibility of traveling by trailer. Today, more and more people explore the joys of a mobile vacation home, looking for perfect trailers for living and utility trailers for their belongings.

Today trailers for traveling come in a great number of sizes and personalities to fit every budget and wish list of activities. Keys to enjoying your vacation on wheels are deciding the style of traveling you prefer, recognizing the common trailer issues and knowing how to fix those little bugs.

The frame of the trailer, no matter if it is an RV or a utility trailer, needs proper and regular maintenance. Since the trailer frame carries a lot of weight and is constantly wet and dirty while being hit by road debris, it develops a great deal of rust. To prevent it from damaging the trailer, the frame needs to be treated with a rust preventive spray and painted regularly with at least a double coat of paint and primer.

When you paint under the trailer, you have a chance to spot some other problems and damaged parts such as damaged floors or parts. You will have to fix these before hitting the road.

Using propane needs a lot of care, too. Many fires in trailers start with inadequate handling of propane tanks. To detect a leak of gas from its container, gas detectors are very handy. When you notice the gas smell in the trailer, escape immediately without using the phone or light switches that can ignite the gas. Portable gas containers must be inspected on a regular basis, and kept from rusting with a coat of paint. The gas connections must be also inspected for leaks.

To keep your trailer free from unwanted odors, make sure you use enough water to flush, and that a toilet seal is operational. The unpleasant odors may also enter from the roof which is not tight, so if you suffer from odors, make sure you check the roof and the exhaust fan, too.

Saving fuel today is one of the most important issues for any traveler. Dont press too hard on the accelerator and try to drive as smoothly as you can. When you need to slow down, let the trailer coast naturally instead of using a brake to slow down. A smooth acceleration may save as much as 10 per cent of fuel down the road. To save fuel, check the plugs which can eat as much as 30 per cent of fuel efficiency, and change the oil and water frequently. New tires will also save you fuel. And finally, dont overload your trailer and clear out the storage areas at least once a year.

Last, but not least, check your trailer roof for decays and rust. A leaking roof can lead to eventual damage to the trailer. Most trailer roofs are made of fiberglass or aluminum, and they can be easily cleaned, painted and sealed with silicone, if needed. Keeping your roof clean and dry is essential for overall trailer longevity.

Improving Self-Esteem With A Little TLC

It is so important to take time to do nice things for ourselves. Especially for those of us who spend much of our time helping and caring for others, it is too easy to neglect ourselves and become worn out, stressed out and run down.

Self-pampering is not about being selfish. It’s about taking proper care of yourself and treating yourself as kindly as you treat others. We spend so much time and effort caring for our spouses, children, pets, friends, family members, employers and employees. Add to that numerous volunteer activities, errands, housework, family functions, meetings, etc. – and there isn’t much time left for caring for ourselves.

We need to make caring for ourselves a priority, otherwise we will continue to put it off. Set an appointment with yourself every day, or at least once a week. Block the time out in your calendar and do not let anything interfere. As much as you do for others, you deserve this time for yourself. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount of time, even an hour or two will do.

You might have a hard time with this in the beginning. You might feel guilty or selfish. You might say you can’t fit it into your schedule. You might say you have too many other obligations. If your schedule is that full every day, then it is even more crucial to carve out some time for yourself. You may need to sacrifice something else to fit this time in. You may need to rearrange some things in your schedule. Aren’t you worth the effort of trying to fit this in? It’s a matter of believing that you deserve to be cared for just as much as everyone else in your life does. It might take some practice for you to fully believe that, and act on it.

In order to make time for yourself, you may need to say “no” to various extra obligations in your life. So many of us take on responsibilities that aren’t even ours. We have various reasons for doing this, such as wanting to be liked, not wanting to let others down, wanting to help lighten the load for someone else, or simply because we don’t know how to say “NO”. However, this “pleaser” mentality can get us into big trouble as we take on more and more responsibility, and end up with less and less time for ourselves.

People will take advantage of us if we let them. They may not realize they are taking advantage, and they may not mean to take advantage. They might not even realize that we don’t want to do what they ask of us. After all, if we’ve never said “no”, how would they know? It took me years to learn how to say “no”. Finally I realized that it’s as simple as saying, “I’m sorry, I’d love to help you out but I just can’t right now.” That simple. The first few times I did this, I expected the Heavens to crash down upon me. Instead, the other person said, “okay, no problem” and they asked someone else. Who knew it could be that easy?

Now, if you have people in your life that have become fully dependent on you doing everything for them, you might face a bit more opposition than that. You may have a fight on your hands in order to make time for yourself. In the end, you may need to decide which is more important: 1) pleasing everyone else in your life, or 2) putting caring for yourself as your highest priority. You will need to decide if you are worth the fight, or not. I believe you are.

Be kind and gentle with yourself. If you don’t make the time to care for yourself, who else is going to? Look within your heart and see the bright, shining light of God there. That light needs to be nurtured and cared for, or it will begin to dim . . . and eventually die out altogether. And what a shame that would be.

Here are some self-pampering ideas to get you started:

Take a bubble bath by candle light. Spend time in Nature. Get a manicure or pedicure. Have a massage. Listen to soothing music or nature sounds. Send yourself flowers. Treat yourself to lunch or dinner at a nice restaurant. Go window shopping. Relax with a cup of calming chamomile tea. Write your hopes, dreams and wishes in a journal. Watch a comedy or read something funny. Go for a quiet stroll in the evening, or early morning. Buy yourself something new. Get a new hairdo. Visit a spa and have a facial. See a new movie. Dance. Take a nap. Go to an outdoor cafe and watch the world go by as you sip a latte, cappuccino, espresso or flavored coffee. Curl up with a good book. Write a love letter to yourself and mail it. Take dance lessons. Learn a new language. Take pottery classes, or quilting classes, or learn how to make yourself some beautiful jewelry. Say this to yourself every morning and every evening: “I am a beautiful person and I deserve to be treated kindly. I am loved, and I love myself.”

29 Off-The-Wall Reasons To Get In Better Shape

Copyright 2006 Brad Howard

Establishing clear expectations while working out often can be the difference between success and failure. Too many people try to do too much and get frustrated. Instead of lasering in on a few great strategies, they try to do as many things as possible. As they say, Jack of all trades, master of none applies here.

To help renew your spirits of why proper diet and exercise is important for the New Year, Ive compiled a somewhat comical list. See how many apply to you:

Because it costs you (or your loved ones) over 5 million pennies in future health care if you arent

Because feeling better tomorrow starts today

Because torture is a bad persuasion technique

Because studies show that fit people make more money

Because if you dont, you suck

Because movie stars do it

Because performers do it

Because everyone that is cool in your life, does it

Because you CAN commit 1.5 hrs/wk out of 176

Because avoiding a wheelchair is a good thing

Because hugs are better when you can actually wrap your arms around someone

Because your kids really dont want to put you in a rest home

Because no matter what you keep telling yourself, thick is not sexy

Because feeling grandpas muscles at Thanksgiving can be a yearly ritual

Because cottage cheese is for fruit

Because squeezing into a size 6 means youre not a size 6

Because love making is much more fun without the extra rolls

Because being able to see your toeshmmmm

Because bigger clothes cost more money

Because shopping for smaller clothes raises spirits

Because hitting the State Fair and observing everyone shouldnt be the only thing that puts a smile on your face

Because having the woman in your life open a stuck jar of pickles for you is embarrassing

Because no matter what anyone says, women are always in competition with each other. You do want to win, right?

Because you had to ask your 10 year old son to take out the trash..after all you couldnt lift it

Because beer makes everyone else look better while making you look worse

Because weight training makes you look better while making everyone else look worse (see competition in women)

Because yelling at the gym is a lot better than yelling at work (unless you are a cheerleader)

Because Shut your mouth or Ill kick your ___, now actually has meaning

Because being told you look 40 when you are actually 60 does something strange to self confidence

Again, make sure to renew your sense of self worth this holiday season and strive to become a healthier you. Great information is always key but watch out for the dreaded information overload. Get equipped and make 06 the best year of your life.

Sailing: An Ideal Sport For Families

For many years, the stereotype persisted that sailing was primarily the province of young, hearty men with large, tattooed biceps. However, in recent years, the demographic of who enjoys sailing has become much more diverse.

Sailing is becoming an increasingly popular recreational activity for families, and with good reason. On a sailboat that requires someone steering at the helm, someone navigating from a map, and even someone swabbing the deck, there is a lot to be done, so there can be a role for everyone from grandpa down to the smallest tot. Sailing as a family encourages the kind of lighthearted cooperation and communication that can help any clan of kin grow closer while having a lot of fun.

Spending an afternoon on the water is a great way to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Sharing this kind of experience with your loved ones can be a great way to have some quality bonding time.

If you are thinking about exploring this great and soothing sport with your family, it is a good idea to start small. Taking on difficult waters or a very long journey when you and your kin are still getting your sea legs can lead to tension and arguments that can sour the whole experience.

To keep everybody in a good mood, make sure that you and your nearest and dearest have all of the training you need in order to have a calm and safe journey. While it may be tempting to charter a boat and head for the Bahamas right away, try starting with a course in water safety along with basic sailing terminology and techniques.

Even if your family doesnt fall in love with this uniquely peaceful sport, you will all be likely to have a great time trying it out. The fact that learning to sail is half the fun explains why growing numbers of sailing schools offer classes that are specially designed to suit the needs of families with varying ages of children. So with a little bit of effort you are sure to discover a class that is right for you and your kids.

Private sailing classes can cost quite a bit, with beginning courses starting at one hundred dollars or more per person. But if you have the resources to splurge on these sailing classes for your family, you are all but guaranteed to have fun and learn the basics of boating.

If your recreation budget cant accommodate this kind of one-on-one instruction, you can still manage to learn the difference between port and starboard. Many shore towns and cities offer municipally subsidized sailing lessons for residents at prices that are well below the market rate for this kind of instruction. With a little research and creative planning, you and your family should be able to hit the high seas without breaking the bank.

Guitar Lesson String Muting

String muting is another technique that can help you define your own personal style. There are two types of string muting, the palm mute with your picks hand and the string mute with your fret hand. They serve very different purposes, but both are important to good guitar playing.

Fret-hand muting is particularly important when playing chords and power chord. The purpose is to use part of you finger tips and fingers to mute the strings you dont want to include in the chord being played. For example the C majors chord is played from the 5th string to the first, your are not supposed to hit the 6th string. I use the tip of my 3rd finger that is holding down the 5th string 3rd fret to rub up against the sixth string thereby muting the string. I use this same technique with power chords, but in addition I use the fat part of my index finger to lightly lay across strings 1,2,3. with just enough pressure to mute the strings. The beauty is if you get a little wild with your pick it still sounds right. Fret-hand muting is used extensively.

Palm muting is more commonly used in distorted rock songs. The technique involves resting the heel of your pick-hand palm on the strings as you pick. Most people rest it directly over the bridge, but you can experiment with different positions for different sounds. Also try different levels of pressure to regulate the level of muting. This technique creates a percussive, muffled or chunky sound. Combine fast down strokes with palm muting in various patterns with moderate distortion for sounds similar to Metallica or other metal bands.

Both fret hand muting and palm muting are very individual and stylistic techniques. Incorporate practicing this technique every time you pick up your guitar and before long you’ll master this necessary skill.

As one progresses to the threshold of old age, worries and anxieties seem to grip more tightly. Not a second goes when the thought of ones family especially children take a leave. The very thought of what will happen next clutches the person and this makes his present life a bundle of misery. However, there is a way out to all these tensions and to bathe in perfect bliss, to draft or make your Will.

Often the thought of making a will seems perturbing to people. They think that they are and will be present to settle all the monetary and other issues. But, the fact is that life is no ones best friend. It can betray anyone at any time; it is too precarious to be trusted upon. So, one should avoid taking risks and plan a Will at the right time.

There are several merits to making a will-

Allows you to follow your choicewhatever you have accumulated throughout your life should not at the end be at the discretion of others. You should govern the decision that who will what and how much, after all it is your money and property that you propose to be divided amongst your beneficiaries.

Good Bye disputesMoney makes the Mare goit is right that the glimmer of wealth can make anybody blind. Most often the unplanned assets are a source of argument amongst the family members for everyone claims to maximum share of it. But if the allocation is pre decided through a Will, there is no scope for all these uninvited and execrated quarrels.

The Veiled reaches the Safe Handsthere are certain secret riches or assets that people do not disclose even to their nearest ones during their lifetime. This can be due to many personal reasons. However, you cannot be a guard to these clandestine possessions always. So, through a will it is better to assign them.to your closest ones so that they can enjoy the fruits of your prudence and sweat.

Can replace tears with smilesa properly formulated Will that takes care of all your near and dear ones, is certainly a delight to them. They revere and miss you all the more for you decided to fulfill their priorities and wishes even in your absence .

Last but not the least, Wills are not just meant to benefit your survivors after your death but they can take care of your present life also like the Living Will that is a great help in case of any accident or unforeseen trouble.

The Other Key Points

Any 18 year old or above can draft a Will. But Wills are actually meaningful in case of adults from 30 to 35 onwards.

There are different types of Wills and so separate ways to draft them. Before formulating a Will, you should know your desires and requirements.

i)Holographic Wills- a legal document handwritten by the Testator and also signed in their hand this Will is largely meant in case of intricate family situation and huge assets.

ii)Legal Will- is that document which is signed by two witnesses and is prepared by a lawyer according to the needs of the testator.

iii)Living Wills-those that give you the opportunity to the kind of medical care and assistance in case of crisis like accident.

iv)Self Proved Will- has certain terms and conditions forwarded by the State. This Will need not be handwritten but requires the signature of the testator along with the witnesses.

v)Ethical Wills- not a legal Will but a personal assessment of ones values, beliefs etc. among several other things.

vi)Living Trusts

These different Wills have respective ways to formulate them and other requirements like choosing an executor, witness, attorneys etc. once you make up your mind for the kind of Will you are looking forward depending on your interest and wishes, it is better to consult any an attorney to know its details. Draft a Will only when you are acquainted with all the particulars of it.

Take some time to think about the beneficiaries, executor and the assets you want to be included etc. Never rush into things. Remember your carefulness is a means to your happiness.

Whether we like it or not, we all know that an important part of our dental care involves making regular trips to the dentist, but the foundation block of oral hygiene lies at home. Not only is brushing and flossing twice a day of the utmost importance in maintaining a healthy and attractive smile, but the tools we use to perform these daily rituals can also make or break a beautiful set of teeth. So dont pick up any old toothbrush find the one thats right for you.

Our mouths, just like every other inch of us, come in all shapes and makes. We probably wouldnt think too long about trying to squeeze into a shoe that doesnt fit, but many of us expect that one size toothbrush should fit all. Baffled by the array of dental products we face in the store, we simply pick the color toothbrush we like best and move along, unwittingly undermining our oral health as we do so.

It is firstly important to find the right size toothbrush for our mouth, so that we can brush with comfort and reach the surface of every tooth. A tooth doesnt get cleaned by just being in the vicinity of a brush! Be sure to find a toothbrush with the size and shape head that allows you to reach every surface of every single tooth.

Another important toothbrush quality is the type of bristles it utilizes. Bristles that are too hard can actually damage teeth and wear down the enamel that covers them, so be sure to opt for a softer type of brush, especially if you have a gum condition, such as gum disease or receding gums. For a good brushing down, look for a toothbrush with nylon bristles with rounded tips.

It is also of the utmost importance that you use a toothbrush that is up to the job, so be sure to replace your brush regularly. Every two to three months is a good time to replace, or when the bristles start to look bent and worn. Some toothbrushes some complete with a color-fade system that tells you exactly when your brush is ready for the garbage simply ditch the brush when the colored bristles start to fade.

A healthy set of teeth is an important part of looking and feeling good, and your trusty toothbrush is an important tool to help you maintain your oral health. So treat your teeth well with the right toothbrush, and dont be afraid to show your smile.

Millions Forced To Opt For Private Dental Treatment

This April the Government is forcing a new service contract on dentists that includes a new pay scale, changes to their working hours and surgery arrangements. Now dentists are not a cantankerous profession, but there’s widespread irritation and disillusionment amongst them at the Governments seemingly heavy-handed action. And they’re determined not to be pushed around.

As a result thousands of dentists are registering their refusal to accept the new contract and have given their notice to quit the NHS at the end of March.

This will create mayhem for clients. Many seeking treatment on the NHS will be simply turned away. Those dentists who do accept the new NHS contract will then face a flood of new clients seeking treatment. The vast majority will again be turned away as even before this bust up, there was a dire shortage of dentists. Waiting lists are bound to be a mile long. No, sorry, two miles long!

As a result, if you are desperate for treatment to a broken tooth or an abscess, you’ll be forced to search out a community based dental surgery operated by the NHS itself. Ask your Doctor for directions to the closest to you. The odds are they’ll be miles away. This means a long journey plus a hospital style queue on arrival. Getting dental treatment will simply take all day!

For many, private dentistry is the only alternative. Going private means you’ll get an appointment when you want one rather than waiting for ages with the NHS, and you can pick and choose your dentist. But it can be expensive. The only good news is that there are solutions to keep costs under control.

You essentially have three key options: dental insurance, capitalisation schemes or cash plans.

Dental Insurance The insurance industry has responded with a whole host of varying dental insurance policies. The following are just some typical examples:

Western Provident has been in the dental insurance market for many years. Its Providential policy provides a basic level of dentistry cover with fixed monthly premiums. For those aged 18 to 49 the premium is 12.48 and 15.90 per month for those between 50 and 69. Policyholders have to pay the first 25% of each treatment but can claim up to 250 per year towards routine treatment including check-ups, visits to the hygienist and fillings. Emergency dental treatment can be claimed up to 1,000 per year but cover for accidental dental injury is limited to 250 per treatment.

6 per month gets you basic dental insurance with Universal Provident. Their policy insures you for up to 1,000 per year for routine work but it won’t pay for check-ups. Accidental damage up to 1,000 per year and dental emergencies are insured up to 5,000 per year.

Many policies also limit the number of dental treatments they’ll pay each year. For example, the policy from Boot’s limits your claims to two check-ups, one crown and four fillings a year up to 500. Boot’s policies start at 9 per month.

Capitalisation Schemes This is the most expensive option. Prior to taking up the policy, your dentist has to make an assessment of your dental health and places you in one of five treatment groups. This will determine how much your scheme costs. The better your dental condition, the less you pay.

For example, Denplan’s dental care scheme costs between 9 and 30 per month. We are told that their average fee is 16.

Cash Plans The last alternative is a composite health cash plan. These pay out for dentistry but also a wide range of other health treatments such as optical treatment, hospital treatment, physiotherapy, chiropody even allergy testing. Each policy spells out exactly what is covered and the maximum value you can claim to for each kind of health treatment. You have plenty of choice as most cash plans offer three or four grades of benefit level. The more you pay, the more you can claim. Some plans allow you to reclaim 100% of the cost up to the annual maximum set for each health category, some will only pay a proportion of the cost. With cash plans, the maximum cover for dentistry tends to be in the range of 70 to 200 per year depending on the company you choose and the option you go for.

For examples of cash plans, visit www.securehealth.co.uk and www.hsa.co.uk. Click on cash plans when you get there.

How to get top value in Dental cover As with most types of insurance, you’ll get it cheapest on the Internet. Search for dental insurance but use the .co.uk variant of your search engine otherwise you’ll come up with masses of American sites!

The best UK sites to visit are those that either enable you to compare plans or those operated by a specialist dental insurance broker. With brokers, you submit your details and they’ll come back to you with the options and best dental policies available for you.

If you do want to go direct to an insurance company, you can still do it on the Internet – but it’s unlikely that you’ll stumble on exactly the best policy for you amongst the many hundreds available. And the broker may well be cheaper. It will come as no surprise that we recommend the broker route!

Divisional Outlook For June – Nl East

Its been quite a month in the NL East. What looked like a competitive race during our last review has become a runaway at the top and a surprising look from the bottom. The Mets have been on fire lately, and it appears that the Braves incredible streak of postseason appearances could be coming to an end.

New York Mets

Currently:

The Mets are surging, and are pushing their division lead towards double digits. They went 19-9 over the past month, and that includes an eight-game winning streak and a sweep of their biggest challenger for the title, the Phillies. David Wright and Paul Lo Duca continue to be pests on the base pads, and Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran are continuing in their roles of bringing them home. Not to mention, the pitching staff is leading the NL in team ERA.

Outlook:

Theres no reason, barring injury or an unforeseen slump, to foresee the Mets stumbling at this point. If they simply hold their lead, theyll win the division.

Philadelphia Phillies

Currently:

The Phillies have stumbled lately, going only 11-17 over the past month, and that includes a six-game losing streak, with three of those losses coming in a damaging sweep at the hands of the Mets. Their offense has been pretty good, with Ryan Howard sitting in the top five in the NL in home runs, RBIs and SLG. The problem in Philadelphia has been the pitching, as the staff is near the bottom of the NL in team ERA.

Outlook:

The Phillies need to fix their pitching problems now, or theyll continue to fall further behind the Mets and never catch up.

Washington Nationals

Currently:

The Nationals quietly had a decent month, going 18-12 in their last 30 games. They have been a bit streaky though, as they had both a five-game winning streak and a five-game losing streak. The problem is that the Mets are playing so well that the Nationals havent made up any ground. Alfonso Soriano and Jose Vidro are continuing their strong seasons, but their offense still sits near the bottom of the NL in BA. The pitching staff continues to have issues, sitting near the bottom of the NL in team ERA.

Outlook:

Despite their statistical problems, the Nationals are winning games. All they can do is continue their hard play and hope for the Mets to stumble.

Florida Marlins

Currently:

The Marlins have also quietly been playing well, going 18-9 over the past month, and theyre currently on an eight-game winning streak. Theyve been doing it with timely hitting and strong pitching. The Marlins have lowered their team ERA to 4.29, which ranks fifth in the NL.

Outlook:

If Miguel Cabrera can continue his big offensive season and Dontrelle Willis can keep his stuff after a strong turnaround, the Marlins could wind up having a successful season for a young team.

Atlanta Braves

Currently:

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. When was the last time we saw the Braves sitting in last place this late in the season? The Braves have gone 9-20 in the past month, and are currently mired in an eight-game losing streak. How has this happened?? Because both their hitting and pitching has been spotty. Edgar Renteria is the only position player who could still be considered as having a strong season, and the pitching staff has given up the second-most runs in the NL.

Outlook:

The Braves unbelievable streak of winning is not talked about as much as it should be. Baseball is perhaps the most difficult sport to reach the postseason, and the Braves have been doing so every year for over a decade. Perhaps its time to reload with young prospects and work towards next year.

But are credit cards only beneficial? Let us analyze the pros and cons of this pocket plastic and see what outweighs the other.

The Benefits of a Credit Card:

Keep heavy cash in abeyancemoney is the most coveted thing in this world. Carrying lot of cash wherever you go is always a bone of contention. A credit card facilitates you to travel without heavy cash and have a carefree and happy trip or shopping.

Imagine yourself out for shopping in a wonderful mall. While you shop, you remember to take boots for your son, spectacles for mother, necklace for your beloved wifebut falling short of money! The credit card is your best friend in such a situation.

Even if you lose your credit card, you need not be apprehensive and scared the way you get when you lose your cash. This is because you can get the card freezed or blocked from the bank and relax.

Credit card works anywhere and everywhere nowadays. You just need to bag your card and make a move to any destination without bothering for money.

Loan facility can also be availed via credit cards.

The Negative Aspect of Surge in Credit Card usage

Generally everybody does not meet the eligibility criterion to hold a credit card. yet in order to enhance their sales and as part of marketing strategies, companies, private banks etc. do away with giving these cards to who so ever caters even to the minimum terms and conditions.

The loan factor-the cards provide you with huge credit limits. The consumer ignorant of the forthcoming trouble, keeps on drawing money from his card and most often when he realizes his mistake, it is too late. He not only comes in the debt of the money he withdrew but also the massive interest that is charged by these companies and banks.

Many credit card companies provide lucrative offers almost every month in the form of incentives. These incentives are basically meant to boost the sale of their product. Incentives like travel programs, gas purchases etc. are a very common phenomenon these days. But one should not get lured by these for it is well said that everything that glitters is not gold. Initially the cards might be promising for some cheerful moments but once you become habitual of them they can land you in soup.

The addictiveness- it is most often the addictiveness of these cards that is a source of trouble. People, who keep on drawing from the banks or companys credit, suffer largely.

Debit cards are believed to be different from the credit cards. But actually the difference is minute. A debit card can also be used as a credit card at times and there are some eminent banks that charge fee with the debit cards too. So more or less the situation remains to be the same.

When you make up your mind to go for a debit card, consult some advisor. Know the details of the interest rate, the tenure to repay the amount and other such things. Do not be carried away by brand names. Just make a survey first and then decide which one to go for.
