Goose hunters these days are very lucky for they are provided with tools that help them excel in the hunting field and one of these are the goose calls. This time, one is not limited in the type of sound one can produce while hunting geese. There are 3 types of calls that would help lure the flocks depending on the species of the bird and the situation that the hunter maybe into.
Below are the 3 types of goose calls that a hunter can choose from:
This is the most famed one because of its flexibility in producing sounds. This was introduced in the 1980′s by Tim Grounds and among the sound it produces are the reverse honk, feeder call, basic honk, moan, cluck, and double cluck. These are either made of wood, polycarbonate, or acrylic and often times comes more expensive in price. These come in many selections that you can choose from. And among these are the RnT G2, Zink Money maker, Tim Grounds Super Mag, and many others.
This type uses 2 reeds in the call. As one vibrates during inhalation, the other reed does the same during exhalation. Though this one is easier to blow, the range of sound that it can produce is very limited.
Its difference from the short reed goose calls is its much longer cavity. This gives subtlety to the sound it produces that does well for Canada goose. And since it is commonly made of wood, it produces more raspy sound. It is acclaimed for its ability to make lifelike sounds in open water very quietly even close to the geese. The best example for this is the Sean Mann Eastern Shoreman.
Since it is very important to have the right instrument, it is imperative that you have to know your type of hunting are; whether field or lake, and the majority of geese species that can be found in your chosen hunting field. By doing so, you will have better chances of bagging more geese in your next planned hunting trip.
